This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious Senior Accountant to join an international, multi-million turnover architectural and urban design practice, based in Central London, on a permanent basis (hybrid working). This is a newly created role due to an increase in workload after business growth, after the business was acquired 2 years ago.

Reporting to the Finance Director. working with the other Senior Accountant you’ll divide full ownership of the day-to-day financial affairs of the business. This key individual will be able to suggest operational improvements, implement new reporting processes, and present financial reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Full ownership of the accounting function across multiple cost centres including the preparation of management accounts
  • Responsibility for the monthly and yearly financial statements, including explaining key variance analysis to the business
  • Creating and reporting P&L forecasts and budgets to the CFO on a monthly basis
  • Supporting with the annual audit whilst liaising with auditors
  • Suggesting updates and improvements for accounting systems
  • Working closely with the Parent company to provide them with monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc reporting including age debtor reports, WIP reports, cashflow reports and project analysis
  • Partnering closely with the Commercial team and Parent company stakeholders to provide them with any updates on financial matters

Skill set required:

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (or QBE) with experience working in the professional services industry, preferably from an architectural, engineering or construction business. You will have a good understanding of time billing and revenue recognition. Previous experience in preparing statutory accounts, preparing financial and management reports, and working across multiple cost centres is essential. Experience working with international entities and systems knowledge of Oracle is desirable. With excellent communication and analytical skills, you will be a self-starter, who is equally excited and capable of stepping up to this hands-on role.
